In the past month I have been lucky to be in the right place at the right time to witness two rare cosmic events. A few weeks ago, from Utsunomiya Japan I was able to watch the solar eclipse ring of fire. And today from Handa City Japan I was able to see the transit of Venus.
The transit of venus started at 7am and lasted till about 1:30pm. During lunch I went to a park near where I work and tried to take a photo of Venus.
As you can see, the photo was epic fail. This was taken through look-at-sun glasses, but venus was to small to be seen by the camera.

Kim was in Ann Arbor and got to view it through a telescope on the roof of Angel Hall. My own attempts to view/photograph it at home were epic fail much like yours.
Demian,
I have an OK picture that I took. I could send it to you. Of course, you could always just get them off the internet.
-tom.
Yeah, hook me up. How did you take that? I stood in the park trying different setting but just kept getting photos on the sun. Demian
